Fermoy: Everything you could want in a town...
|
|
Fermoy is less than 30 minutes
from Cork City, with easy access
to the new Fermoy Bypass.
Fermoy is strategically located on the
main Cork-Dublin road and is only a
twenty-minute drive from the Jack Lynch
tunnel with rapid access to Cork City
and the airport. Upgrading of the main
road to Cork City is progressing well
with Watergrasshill and Glanmire already
bypassed. Work on the Fermoy bypass,
which incorporates an impressive new
bridge over the River Blackwater, is now
well ahead of schedule. Access to this
bypass from Crann Ard is only a few
minutes drive away with the obvious
advantages this brings.
Fermoy lies within the development zone
for the greater Cork area as an identified
growth centre. Built on the banks of the
River Blackwater the town is renowned
for its salmon and trout fishing. The
vibrant town centre boasts a wide variety
of shops, supermarkets, banks, cafes,
restaurants and bars, which make it a
very pleasant place to frequent.

Youth and education is the platform for
Fermoy's development and the town is
traditionally respected for the quality of
its schools at both primary and secondary
level. Student representatives from Fermoy
schools have traditionally enjoyed
considerable success at County and
National level in sporting, academic and
cultural activities and competition.

|
|
Fermoy boasts over eighty clubs and
organisations catering for almost all tastes
in recreational activity. The leisure centre
situated in the town park provides a range
of facilities including a 25-metre
swimming pool. Through the years
competitors from Fermoy sporting clubs
have committed themselves well at all
levels including International.
